SUBJECT OBJECT Shadow Dramaturg call out

About the role

SUBJECT OBJECT are developing a new adaption of Mary Shelley’s FRANKENSTEIN in partnership with Bristol Old Vic, Battersea Arts Centre and Nottingham Playhouse. FRANKENSTEIN will be a contemporary reimagining of Shelley’s novel, exploring AI, power, and digital ethics. A writing period will take place at Battersea Arts Centre in November and an R&D with full team will take place at Bristol Old Vic in December. We are excited to offer a training opportunity for an emerging dramaturg to observe the R&D process. The shadow dramaturg will work closely with Nathan Ellis, SUBJECT OBJECT AD and writer and director of FRANKENSTEIN, as well as with the dramaturgs on the piece. The role is designed for an early-career artist to gain their first professional experience in the rehearsal room.

We are particularly interested in hearing from applicants from backgrounds that have historically been underrepresented in the theatre industry.

Timeline

Fee

£1000 for the period, plus travel and accommodation where necessary. The shadow dramaturg should be available for the two-week R&D in Bristol. They are also welcome to join the writing R&D at Battersea Arts Centre, but it is not a requirement.

How to Apply

Please send a CV to hannah@subjectobject.co.uk by Tuesday 21st October, 10pm. We will then randomly select 5 applicants to interview with SUBJECT OBJECT’s Artistic Director Nathan Ellis on Thursday 23rd October before selecting the shadow dramaturg.
